Charlie and I are going to work on giving the rest of the call names later today. For now they’ll just be known as 1-9.

Poor #9, she had all her brothers and sisters kicking her in the face on their way out. Whoda guessed the last puppy would be the biggest (girl)? Didja get a nap, Jeri?

Okay, I HAVE to know where you got those numbers. That is the best idea, along with the gender specific colors.
They are extremely lovely. What a beautiful pedigree.

OH, so very very beautiful! Thank you for the photos. I have been worrying about those placentas all day- did they finally come?

Dem some BIG babies. Lizzie must be pretty substantial to fit 9 babies of that size in her. They are gorgeous! I am glad to hear #9 is making a good come back. She is beautiful. As are all of them. Good job!

Well done Lizzie! That is quite a bundle of little Plizzards! They’re lovely. Will there be a theme for this litter? Or is it too soon to ask that question?

You’ll want to keep the rick rack tied closely so that another puppy doesn’t get a paw in it. Check it every day and loosen it a little bit as they gain weight.

The numbers come from these collars: http://health.petedge.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=52444 The collars are too big for them at this point, but when they get bigger I’ll use them. The numbers slip off so I thought I’d use them this way.
In hindsight I might have considered getting the toy sized ones. Still figuring out how tight to tie ric-rac, found one wearing it as a belt
.

I used ric rac all the time when I had GSDs as all pups looked the same, but I don’t anymore. Using the numbers in the photos for all of us is great, but after you spend the first 12-48 hours with your litter and you will see everyone’s unique markings and I bet you won’t need to use it on a full time basis.
The only time I did use ric rac on Cardi pups was on the orphans as I was so distraught I could not keep track of who I fed and who I didn’t. The Vizsla people took one look at my pups and saw how unique each one is marked that they instantly took it off!

I used ric-rac in different colors and wrote it down, but the numbers are so much better. I was so nervous and didn’t want to worry about thinking about who was who.
True, only needed it for a couple of days, but it was nice to just glance in and see the color and not have to think about which black was which.
Thanks for the link. I’ll probably be picking some of those up.

I gave up trying to tie ric rack and use a tiny dot of red nail polish. I start with a dot on top of the head of the first baby, then move down to the neck, shoulders, etc…. I guess with 9 – you would have been marking down to the tip of the on this litter.

One did. I took her to the vet for a shot of oxy, hopefully that will clean her out and help the milk come in. She’s doing great! The vet wasn’t worried about her.
