Looks like the old man should be ok. He has narrowing of 2 spaces between vertebrae in his lower back, one more severe than the other and likely causing his pain. He wasn’t showing any lameness/paralysis though, which is good news. Anti-imflammatory shot and pain meds and sent us on our way with warnings to watch for any signs of worsening. He also has a very calcified disc, but that is much higher up closer to his shoulder area.

Rest and Rimadyl. I swear by them for old dogs.

Poor you, and him! I *know* how scary that is! Traum’s had a full recovery, and we’re doing physical rehab with him now. It’s HELL on my wallet, but worth the world to me to keep him healthy, and moving as many years are possible.
Crossing fingers it’s very minor, and problems don’t persist

Sending along our prayers. We spent tonight in the ER with Cody (our 14.5 year old). He has a mass in the side of his face. Cytology doesn’t show anything. We’re keeping an eye on him. May need to be excised, but sedation on a 14.5 year old? (sigh)
Give Brady a gentle hug from us…

Hope he feels better soon. So, how are you going to get the old man to calm down and get some rest?

Glad the odoriferous one will be perfuming your halls for many years to come! I swear I need to get you the farting cardi bumper sticker!

Definitely sending Brady good thoughts.
And, re: the question of sedation for a 14.5 year old dog…if he’s got no other issues, absolutely! We had to remove bladder stones from our 14 year old dog. He came through just like a dog half his age, no residual issues and continued to live another 2.5 years!

Hugs to you and Brady. Emmie sends greetings to Brady, says her remaining calcified disc is no problem, “just get your humans to spoil you more.”

Prayers that this is short lived and he recovers fully and easily. Gentle hugs for the older gentleman.
