When I entered Nash in Atlanta, I brashly decided last-minute to enter Lizzie too, in BOB. I looked down at her lovely shiny coat, good weight, happy demeanor and said “aww why not, I’m going to the show anyway.” I conveniently, ahem, forgot one little thing…oh, remember that abdominal surgery? Not too awfully long ago (little over a month)? Oh yeah, that’s right…her BELLY IS SHAVED. *doh*
Today was bath day so after drying her I decided to snap a few pictures to see if maybe it didn’t look “that bad” on the table. Uh huh. Damn shame too, because I think she looks awesome otherwise!

Pretty, pretty.

I’d show her anyways. If the judge notices/asks, tell them what happened. You’ve already entered, so what does it hurt to show mama-dog too?

I don’t see anything wrong with the picture, Jeri. I’d show her – and like Emily said – if the judge asks, tell them about the pig-dog incident… what would it hurt?? It doesn’t take away from the fact that she’s still super pretty. The shaved belly doesn’t take away from her structure!
I say go for it… you already paid!

See but I don’t want to give any reason for anyone to question my honesty…it looks too much like it could have been a spay incision. I could bring the vet records, but why bother? Not like I’m trying to campaign her to a top special, I just thought it would be fun and she’s a good girl to show.
She might tag along anyway, just to give Nash someone to irritate, but I doubt I’ll show her. It looks worse in person, the lighting of the photo doesn’t show it that much.

Nobody’s going to think it’s a spay incision. What if she had a c-section? Alice has now had 3 c-sections and a blockage surgery and trust me, she’s still quite intact (sigh).
It is’t that noticeable and she looks great otherwise. Show her.

Jeri, she looks way to pretty not to show her right now. I know she is not the first dog to be shown with a still somewhat hairfree belly after an abdominal surgery. I have seen it several times and not just cardi’s either. Go have fun.

I agree with everyone – Go For It!
Have fun. Lizzie is a beautiful girl and her shaved tummy doesn’t take away from her “bones”. From a former vet tech’s point of view – the judges/officials should know the difference between the site & feel of an abdominal surgery incision site & a spay. Have fun with Lizzie & Nash. Enjoy!

I’m with the rest of them, show her, dogs have issues and they get treatment, and it doesn’t even show in the photos and you still have another week of hair growth.

And another YES vote here.
I am sure this will not be the first time that the judge has encountered such a situation. I’d be up front and explain it before they have a chance to ask you, so it doesn’t look like you’re trying to hide anything. When in doubt…be honest. It works every time!
Don’t toss the bucks…she’s too pretty not to give her a chance!

SHOW HER, Jeri! I once showed a bitch with a belly shaved for an ultrasound–and she finished like that! Lizzie looks great.
